Privacy policy

This document describes what Parky does with your data. It is short because the app collects almost none.

Last updated :

In short

Parky creates no account, sends your positions to no server, contains no tracker and no advertising network, and shares nothing with third parties for commercial purposes.

The only data that leaves your device is what Apple processes to draw the map, what relates to a purchase, and what you yourself choose to send when sharing a spot. Each is detailed below.

Who is the data controller

The publisher of the app, Mohammed Ali Nader, is the data controller under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

For any question about your data: naderideas@gmail.com.

What stays on your device

The following is written to your iPhone’s private storage and transmitted to nobody:

  • the coordinates of the places you parked, with the date and time;
  • the photos you attach to a parking;
  • the level, bay number and notes you type;
  • your favourite places and your history;
  • your settings: language, reminders, display preferences.

The app does not encrypt this separately: it relies on the full-device encryption iOS applies as soon as your device is protected by a passcode.

Location

Parky asks for your location in order to save where you parked and to guide you back. Without that permission the app cannot do its job.

If you turn on automatic detection (Parky Pro), the app asks for the “Always” permission. It uses it to watch a geofence around your vehicle through the iOS system, which only wakes the app when that boundary is crossed. Precise position is read only for the few tens of seconds needed to confirm a parking.

In every case those positions stay on the device. You can withdraw the permission at any time in Settings → Parky → Location.

Maps

The map shown in the app is provided by Apple Maps, built into iOS. To draw the map around you, Apple receives what it needs for that rendering, under its own privacy terms.

We chose Apple Maps over a third-party provider for exactly this reason: no additional data leaves the system you are already using.

Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment method, your name or your address.

To know whether your subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat, a service specialised in in-app purchase management. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier generated by the app, the transaction details passed on by Apple, and technical information about the device (model, iOS version, store country). It receives none of your positions, photos or notes.

Legal basis: performance of the contract entered into when you subscribe. RevenueCat acts as a processor.

RevenueCat is bound by a data processing agreement and provides the same or equal protection of your data as described in this policy. Apple processes the data it receives under its own privacy policy, which provides an equal level of protection.

Notifications

Meter reminders are local notifications: the app schedules them on your device and they pass through no server. We send no remote notifications, promotional or otherwise.

Sharing a spot

When you share your vehicle’s location, the app prepares a message containing the coordinates and hands it to the iOS share sheet. You choose the recipient and the messaging app. We keep no record of it.

What we do not do

  • no audience measurement, no telemetry, no usage reports;
  • no advertising, no advertising identifier, no cross-app tracking;
  • no sale or transfer of data;
  • no profiling and no automated decision-making.

Retention

Your data stays on your device for as long as you keep it. Deleting a parking deletes it permanently. Uninstalling the app erases everything.

Data held by RevenueCat is retained for the duration of the contractual relationship, then according to the statutory periods applicable to billing.

Your rights

The GDPR gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and portability.

For the app’s data these rights are exercised directly: it is in your hands, on your device, and you can view, change or erase it at any time without asking us.

For purchase-related data, write to naderideas@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Children

Parky is not directed at children in particular and knowingly collects no data concerning them.

Changes

Any change to this policy will be published on this page with a new update date. A substantial change in how your data is handled will be announced inside the app.
